Quick Snacking at Brew
My cousin recently came to Pakistan from UK and was craving some sourdough sandwiches. After stalking a million food bloggers I finally found a café called Brew. From their Instagram page it seemed like a very modern café, so I decided to take her there. It was in the hub of Islamabad sector E7. We went on a Sunday, and it was busy there. We had to wait for 10 minutes. In those 10 minutes we just admired the architecture of it. It was modern yet very rusty. From its brick walls to its industrial look, it was immaculate. They had 2 stories and outdoor sitting with the most beautiful view of nature. It was one of those comfort cafes where you go hangout with friends or just enjoy a book with some coffee on your own. They even had a great collection of books available that you could read. The vibe was very warm and pleasant.
They had 2 menus, one for coffee and the second for the eatery. We ordered 2 of their sandwiches and a salad. The sandwiches we ordered were ‘Chicken on the run’ and ‘Beef is on fire’, the salad was ‘Brutus salad’. For desserts, we ordered their banoffee pie called ‘Banoffee wannabe’ and in drinks an iced latte. I was not quite sure how the beef sandwich would taste but I was pleasantly surprised. It was so delicious. The bread was lightly toasted and layered with a spicy sauce. The smoked beef was cut finely and cooked well-done. It was neither chewy nor hard. It was just seasoned to perfection. The sandwich also had my favorite vegetable ever, the sundried tomatoes. The addition of caramelized onions added a sweet touch. The cheese just melted and combined all the ingredients. It was just the perfect balance between spice and crunch. Honestly, the best sandwich I have had so far. My cousin ate the chicken sandwich. It was lathered with fresh pesto sauce with just the right amount of chicken seasoned to perfection. It also had crunchy lettuce and cheese. Her cravings were satisfied to the fullest after eating this sandwich. Both the sandwiches were served with salad and crisps. The salad had a sweet dressing to fuse the flavors together. The crisps however were quite hard and tasteless; would have preferred potato wedges or french fries. The Brutus salad was extremely flavorful. It was sweet, sour, crunchy and chewy, it hit all the taste buds. It was a feast in our mouth. The base was fresh iceberg lettuce leaves. The sweetness and crunchiness came from the diced, crunchy apples and the caramelized walnuts. The walnut was the star ingredient of the salad. The sour taste came from the sundried tomatoes. It also had chicken which was not very spicy which complimented the salad. It was garnished with some crispy croutons and a generous amount of parmesan cheese.
I am not much of a coffee person, so only my cousin ordered it. She liked it but it was a little too strong for my liking. We ended the meal on a sweet note with the ‘banoffee wannabe’. It was pudding in a jar. On a bed of crushed biscuits ,there was rich, silky delectable cream with a hint of coffee on top of it. In it were chunks of bananas. The dish was jazzed up by adding caramel sauce and biscuit crumbs on top. It was just the most decadent pudding ever.
My cousin was very impressed and so was I with the staff, the ambience and most importantly the food of the café. It was just what Islamabad needed. I would highly recommend you all to pay Brew a visit, I am sure you would not be disappointed.
