Sunday Night Delight - Chole Bhature

I was visiting my aunt in the UK this summer and both of us were fed up with eating at restaurants. Since my aunt is a very nice cook, I told her to cook something desi for the dinner. Upon brainstorming and shortlisting options, we finally decided to make Chole Bhature. This dish, Chole Bhature also known as Chana Bhatura, is one of the famous Punjabi dishes liked and enjoyed all over Pakistan and India. Chole is a spicy yet tangy chickpea curry while Bhatura is a very soft and fluffy fried puri. It is definitely a mouth-watering and absolutely delicious dish. This entire meal can be served at any time of the day, people mostly consume it for breakfast. You can eat Chole with Naan, Aloo Paratha too but for me, Chole with Bhature is the best. So, here’s the recipe we followed while making this dish. Ingredients: For the Chole: 2 cups chickpeas 4 cups water 2 tablespoons oil 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 2 medium onions, finely chopped 2 teaspoons ginger paste 2 teaspoons garlic paste 2 teas...

Fettuccine Alfredo - Recipe

There is just one Italian dish that I love and cook the most and that is Alfredo Pasta! I can eat it anytime, be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I might sound weird but that’s how crazy I am about this single dish. It may seem it is a difficult dish to create but, it just takes about 20, a maximum of 30 minutes to prepare this dish. All the ingredients you need to make this dish will most definitely be available in your pantry.

Alfredo pasta is a classic Italian dish that is flavourful, rich, and creamy. You can add your favourite meat to it such as crispy chicken fillet, shrimps etc to intensify the overall flavour. This dish is perfect for any occasion and extremely simple to make at home. Here’s how you can make Alfredo pasta that serves 3 to 4 people.

Ingredients:

  • 5 balls of fettuccine pasta
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (unsalted)
  • 1 pack of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon Knorr chicken cube
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Grab a saucepan and fill it up to half with water. Add in some salt and oil, then leave it on the stove until the water gets boiled. Now, add in the pasta and cook it for 15 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. Take a large saucepan, add in the butter, and melt it over medium heat. Once done, add the chopped garlic cloves to the butter. Cook until they turn slightly brown.
  3. Now, add the heavy cream until simmering, for 2 to 3 minutes. Decrease the heat from medium to low and put the Parmesan cheese, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Add in black pepper, chilli flakes, mixed herbs, and salt to taste and mix well.
  5. To enhance the taste of the sauce and to give it a special aroma add in the Knorr chicken cube.
  6. Put the cooked pasta into the sauce and mix so that the pasta can be coated well in the sauce.
  7. Serve the Alfredo pasta warm in the aesthetic bowl and garnish with chopped parsley if you want.

Tips:

  • To add variety to your dish, you can add different ingredients to add more flavour. Either you can add spicy chicken fillet cut into strips or grilled shrimps for some extra protein.
  • For more flavour and great texture, you can also add sauteed vegetables such as mushrooms, bell peppers etc.
  • If you want your pasta to give a spicy tint, try adding paprika powder.
  • If you like a thicker sauce, you can stir in some additional grated Parmesan cheese until the consistency you want is achieved.
  • In case your sauce gets too thick, you can add in the pasta water.
  • Alfredo pasta is best served immediately because the sauce gets sticky, but the chicken, vegetables or any additional ingredient added can be cooked a day before.

Do try making this at home, it’s very easy and quick to make.
